Challenge:
UbiSoft came to us looking for a creative way to promote their upcoming title, Battle Relms, through a retail giveaway promotions. The disk had to create a buzz around the game but UbiSoft only had a limited amount of content available to put on the disk.
By custom programming the disk rather than using a pre-existing authoring software, LifeLike was able to create a "cutout" window to display content, giving the piece a look and feel unique to this product. Creative use of fonts and sound files, contributed to the the feeling of ancient warring tribes. The disk was designed to maximize the content and give a comprehensive sneak peak into the game world. The disk also incorporated links to a dynamic webpage, so the disk stayed fresh and current and content was automatically updated to the site. By incorporating links into the disk, customer information was collected through online contest registration.
The UbiSoft Battlerelms promotional disk provided an inexpensive way for UbiSoft to get samples of product in the hands of their consumers and create a buzz before the product was released. They hit the consumers where they shopped to reinforce the brand and keep UbiSoft products top of mind. The demo discs were used as giveaways at retail and through other promotional giveaways.
